The purpose of the transformer
Transformers are the most numerous and crucial electrical equipment in the power system, with a total capacity approximately 6 to 8 times that of generators. Its main function is to increase or decrease the voltage of electrical energy, thereby supporting efficient transmission, distribution, and use of electrical energy.

Power transformers generate a small amount of active power loss during the transmission of electrical energy, but their overall efficiency is extremely high: the efficiency of small and medium-sized transformers is not less than 95%, and that of large transformers can reach over 98%.
