Special transformers are transformers that differ from conventional power transformers in material, function, or application, and are specifically designed and manufactured to meet specific operating conditions and functional requirements.

They are not only used for AC voltage transformation but also undertake various special functions such as changing power supply frequency, providing rectified power, powering welding, heating electric furnaces, and measuring voltage/current (current transformers). Because their operating conditions and load characteristics differ from ordinary transformers, they cannot be designed and selected using the calculation methods for conventional transformers.

Depending on the application scenario, special transformers must possess performance characteristics such as high precision, low noise, strong anti-interference, high temperature resistance, or high overload capacity. They are widely used in rail transportation, medical equipment, precision instruments, metallurgy, chemical industry, and smart grids.
